SEVILLE – place for foodies….

The artistic, cultural and financial capital of Spain,  Car hire seville , is banked on the plain of the river Guadalquivir. As history records, the port of Seville played a major role in commerce between Spain and the Americas and till today it remains one of the most active river ports of the Iberian Peninsula. It has more than 700,000 inhabitants, nearly half the population of the whole province, and they are better called sevillanos. The city is credited with the invention and has more than a thousand bars where the choice of food, is virtually unlimited, from seafood to ham and sausage and from vegetable to cheese.

Climate

Seville has a typical Mediterranean climate throughout the year, July and August being the hottest months of the year and the temperatures in Seville can reach as much as 37ºc. In mid-winter, around January time, Seville is at its coldest, though it can often have pleasant mild spells at this time of year. Towards late-January, the average temperatures in Seville begin to rise. From March onwards the weather starts to warm up and gets more sunny. May is a particularly pleasant time to visit Seville, with the weather being mild and brisk. From November to April, it is preferable to wear a warm sweater, jacket or coat.

Places to visit

Barrio de la Santa Cruz, The María Luisa Park, The Andalusian Contemporary Art Center, The Army Museum, The Maritime Museum, The Carriages Museum, Alcazar, Plaza de Espana, Isla Magica, Alhambra Palace, Donana National Park are the places one can visit in Seville. Seville is also a booming cultural centre with a colorful performing arts scene and the city is basically popular for its classical and flamenco guitar and dance events. Torre del Oro, meaning the ‘Tower of Gold’ is a must-visit monument is Seville. Also, look out for the various festivals in the city since there is always something going on to keep the people there actively busy!

Airport

San Pablo Airport is located ten kilometers north-east of the Sevillian capital between the city limits of Seville and Rinconada. Seville Airport is situated on the A4 motorway (known as E05 in the International E-road network) which connects Seville with Madrid. The motorways around Seville provide relatively easy access to Jerez, Malaga, Cadiz, Huelva and into Portugal. It is served by half-hourly buses to the centre of Seville, stopping at Santa Justa railway station and Puerta de Jerez, which take about 40 minutes. Auriga crown, AVIS, Europcar, Hertz, National Atesa are the companies which proved cars for hire purpose at the airport.

Transport

Orange or Red painted city buses are the predominant public transportation. Travelling by bus tends to be cheaper than by train. The first section has recently opened for the Metro Centro, the above ground train which runs from Plaza Nueva to the Prado de San Sebastian. The system works on the same ticket system as the city buses. While on a visit to Seville, hire a car to visit the places more comfortably and have a good view of the place with your convenience.
